I have read in a Daniel Goleman's book that there was youths groups in USA who gather and discuss the conditions of those less fortunate. They come from broken home families. They discuss something about having a parent, but not have it, of course that sort of thing makes them vulnerable emotional state.
By talking about it to people who had similar experiences, so at least they do not feel alone. They also had a healthy catharsis media. Many psychiatric problems triggered by less harmonious family atmosphere. This effort was to avoid harmful effects of broken home conditions they experienced.
I estimate that it has been implemented in the United States around the eighties. Certainly needs re-examination of the effectiveness of the program for children affected by broken home at this time. However, I believe that the result will positive. Traumatized and alone was a very uncomfortable condition.
I was very surprised, and at the same time happy because apparently in Indonesia it also started. There is a group of UGM and UII students that come together to make something similar. Exactly as was done in the United States thirty years ago. They mostly come from a broken home as well. They intend to control the excesses worse about their conditions.
I did not come from divorced families. However, my condition as children in divorced families. I experienced Domestic Violence. It made my mental unstable. Apparently as a result of such conditions I had experienced bad influence on my live. In fact, until I was an adult. I wrote down the conditions in the novel that I wrote.
The community built by the students was named Inspiration Community HAMUR. Although I was not a student anymore, I joined the community. This community is a community-based training. It means that the activities will focus on training that will make the victim of a broken home can escape from the negative mental condition. It is also useful to improve their own potential.
The featured training is parenting training. In this training, it is expected that the community members can prepare to be a good parent for their children later. There was also a personality development training. We have over thirty years late compared to the United States in this purpose. Better late than never.
