Have you ever visited UGM?. UGM or Universitas Gadjah Mada often referred as the oldest national university in Indonesia. Unlike the University of Indonesia in Jakarta and Bandung Institute of Technology in Bandung, West Java, which was established by the Dutch colonial government, UGM was the first public university founded by Indonesian themselves.
So many courses offered at UGM. We have a rare faculties such as the Faculty of Philosophy and Faculty of Forestry. Seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo was one of the alumni of the Faculty of Forestry. In addition, many officials in Indonesia who was graduated from University of Gadjah Mada.
In addition to lectures, at UGM also available many Student Activity Unit. Many intra-campus activities offered by this Student Activity Unit. Start up from the traditional art till classical music practising. There are also nature lovers and diving activities. I myself followed the Karate activities unit there. Everything in common has housecamp at UGM Student Center.
There are also activities UGM Student Cooperative. The student cooperative has a food court and a cafeteria. It is often called the Students' Cooperative Canteen. I want to tell here the uniqueness of the canteen. The uniqueness is in an aisle of visitors. Rows of benches visitors I mean is in the most northern side of this canteen.
Because located at the northest of the cafeteria, then it is called north bench . What is unique from the north bench are the occupants. My point is people who used to sit and order food and drinks from the north bench. North bench are usually filled by alumni of UGM. Students are usually reluctant to take a seat at the bench this northest.
The alumni are usually doing anything there. They make buying and selling there. They also do meetings with friends from out of town there. They are also working on projects in this area. The place was like an open office to them. Anyone can use it. That is the uniqueness of north bench on our campus. Do you have a story about the uniqueness of your campus?.
