The term of Creative Economy was first introduced by John Howkins. He realized that in 1997, the United States has issued products of Intellectual Property Rights which worth of 141 billion dolllar. That worth is the United States' largest export value at that time. Some analysts believe that the era of informatics will be replaced by the era of the creative economy.

Howkins explained that the creative economy are the economic activities in the community who spends most of its time to generate ideas, they do not just do something similar and repetitive, for this community, to produce a work of an idea is important for progress.

Creative economy includes four forms of capital, ie, socio-cultural, structural or institutional and human creativity. The years to come, the number of people entering the productive age will be doubled. This is caused by the presence of birth control. About fifteen years to come, the population of Indonesia and the world will be surplus of labor.

Opportunities of Creative Economy

Various reports have hinted that the creative industries are the most dynamic sectors of the economy lately. Creative economy or the creative industry offers employment opportunities and high growth for developing countries. Around thirty countries have benefited in this creative industry and a hundred more that expressed interest in developing the creative economy in the country. Indonesia nor miss, In Jokowi work cabinet listed ministerial of tourism and creative economy.

It can be seen that an attempt to open up the creative economy sector in Indonesia is still struggling from the things like tourism. Indonesia must improve themselves in terms of human resources to take on a creative role in the world economy. As a comparison, the United States's creative economy were classified into four areas namely, patents, copyrights, trademarks and designs.

Indeed, the biggest Indonesian opportunities in the economy or the creative industries is patterned on the tourism sector. The rise hotels and homestay in Yogyakarta show it. Creatively called here because tourists do not just come and visit, but treated with the culture and get to know local wisdom. Surely there exists a negative, the ground water level in Yogyakarta becomes lower. It would need to be our considerations.

The key lies in human resources and related technological mastery. In addition, government policies that support the development of creative economy and human resources are also very important. In this case is education. If people have mastered the required technology and the creative industries, the opportunity to create job opportunities would be opened, then we can expect that in the era of the creative economy, we remain a sovereign nation.
